Grosseto, Rubino show: 2h30’50” on 35Km. Good result also for Tontodonati and De Luca

Grosseto (ITA) – In the presence of FIDAL President Alfio Giomi, Giorgio Rubino won the 35km of Grosseto last Sunday, first round of the Italian Club Championship. The racewalker of Fiamme Gialle Club has impressed with an excellent race, winning in 2h30’50”. Initial steps led by the trio Rubino, De Luca and Tontodonati, then the latter’s escape ignited the powders. At times the race has turned into a 20Km, with Rubino who chased and passed the Aeronautica Club athlete, walking at an average of 4’18” to Km, that allowed him to win with good distance on direct opponents. Second, Federico Tondodonati who finished the race in 2h32’36”, then the other athlete of Fiamme Gialle Club, Marco De Luca in 2h33’18”.

Very satisfied Giovanni De Benedictis, coach of two financiers: “guys went even beyond expectations. Marco did a lot better than last year, he was walking at an average of 4’22”, and the result of Giorgio is for me a great satisfaction. We are working well, the next training sessions in Albuquerque will be even more important

Satisfied even Tontodonati, that on the eve of the race he was not sure of his condition; during the race he had good feelings and tried to win without success, but still managing to break down his old PB on 35Km of four minutes.
